4.15What is a GTT order?

1What is it?

A GTT (Good Till Triggered) order sits with your broker (for up to a year) and is sent to the exchange only when your trigger price is hit.

2Why does it exist?

Normal orders expire at day end. GTT lets you set long-term buy or sell levels and stop-loss/target pairs (OCO: one cancels the other) without re-entering daily.

4Risks
  • A GTT triggers once; if the order then doesn’t fill (gap), it may not retry.
  • Your funds or shares must be available when it triggers.
5Quick revision
  • GTT = trigger stays active up to ~1 year.
  • Great for long-term buy/sell levels.
  • OCO GTT sets stop and target together.
